Fridge Help!!
She called the repairman and you know how they are...they charge you an arm and leg just to come out, then the parts and labor add up too. She is asking for help from anyone who know about refrigerators, or knows someone who does to even come and look at it. See what is going to be needed and the cost. And possibly fix it for her. I'm sure we all know how things are this time of year, and she's not wanting to get a new one if it's not necessary.
Please call Hillary at 766-3452 or 362-7448 if you can help or know anyone who can.

Volunteer Opportunities Sponsored by Riverton Motors
Give the gift of time – Join Riverton Motors over the holidays by donating your volunteer time. Utah Food Bank Services has a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for both groups and individuals. Volunteers are a tremendous part of what we do, as we use more volunteer labor than paid staff! A list of volunteer opportunities is available below. Just complete our volunteer application or call (801) 978-2452 and ask to speak to a Volunteer Officer today!
Sort Food and Build Orders
Individuals and groups of up to 60 people are needed to help sort food and build orders at Utah Food Bank Services. Volunteers inspect and sort food and build orders in preparation for shipment to over 240 programs and agencies statewide. This fulfilling work is fast-paced and may require lifting of up to 40 lbs. Flexible shifts are available. Children under 12 are welcome on Monday evenings for “Family Night.” Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (1 adult per 5 youth for groups and families).
Snow Shoveling
As the temperatures drop and the snow flys we are looking for volunteers to clear away unwanted snow in driveways and walkways for seniors who are too frail and unable to shovel snow themselves. You can adopt a senior for the snow season or help when you can.
Yard Care
We are always on the lookout for volunteers willing to help senior citizens and people with disabilities with yard work, gardening, raking and snow removal. Groups and individuals are also invited to participate in two of our annual events: the “Fall Leaf Haul” and the “Spring Spruce-Up.” Help us rake and bag leaves in the fall and prepare yards for the summer in the spring.
Decorate Food Boxes
We invite you to make a food box extra festive for our clients. Volunteers use colored pencils, crayons and anything else they can think of to spice up the boring cardboard boxes. It is a great opportunity for kids to exhibit their creativity and brighten someone else’s day. This activity can be done offsite, however please call the volunteer coordinator at 887-1234 to confirm we have boxes available in advance.
Call for Donations
If you have donations for the fundraiser boutique I am now starting to collect them. We will be out if town for Thanksgiving so you can bring them now until Wednesday morning, or anytime Sunday. We will be home Sunday afternoon so if we don't answer just leave them on the porch. My goal is to get everything photographed and listed by Monday evening. I will post a link Monday so you can view everything. If you are still working on your items just bring them to me when you can. Thank you!!!

Tuesday Morning
The plan is to meet at Brittney Miskin's house at 9am, and try to get up to Ikea by 9:30. Then, after we are done eating (and looking around) we will head to Tai Pan (maybe like 10:30). We can try to car pool as much as possible, and if you really want to come, but don't have a ride we can possibly come pick you up. Just let me us know if you are wanting to come, or need a ride by leaving a comment or calling Brittney Miskin.
And yes, we are bringing children (sigh)...

This is the week
Part of my preparation for the walk included raising money and I am still a little ways away from my goal. Here is where I come to you...I know money is tight for some of us...probably most...but look at your budget and see if you might even be able to donate a few dollars. If we are all able to donate even just a few dollars it would add up fast and we could make a great stride towards finding a cure for breast cancer.
If you are not able to I completely understand...but I want to feel like I am doing my part in this fight. And in addition to donating my money, time and probably the comfort of my feet for a while after the walk I knew I could spread the word and get those who are able to help fight against breast cancer.
you can, click here to donate, if you are able.
and please spread the word to those you know that might be able to help.
I just hope and pray that the money raised can go towards the research that will find a cure so that my children might live in the day were breast cancer can be easily beaten.
thanks for listening to my rambling and for those of you who donate and/or spread the word about raising money for the Susan G. Koman foundation.

Halloween Party Pictures...
Boutique Update
If you offered to make a craft item keep crafting. Your dealine is now the first of December to either bring me the item or e-mail me a photograph of it. At the end of December if your item doesn't sell I will return it to you, or you can donate it to the family. If you were planning on making a baked item, sorry, it just won't work, but kudos to you anyway!
Thank you to all who offered to help with fliers. I don't need you to do that now but use that time and energy to promote the store online and do some shopping!
Watch for a post from me towards end of November. I will post a link to the shop and instructions on how to purchase/pick up items.
Any questions convo me!

Christmas Boutique Fundraiser
As many of you know the Barkdull family has been awaiting Matt's kidney transplant and it looks like it is going to happen after Christmas at the end of December or first of January. Matt will obviously have to take some time off to recovery and it will be a difficult time for the entire family. I have decided to host a boutique in December to help raise money for them and would love and appreciate any help.
It's going to be Saturday, December 6th, right here in my home. I am looking for people who are willing to help distribute fliers the week before, help that day with setting up and running the cash register, and help with cleaning up afterwards. I was hoping to get people to do two hour shifts so you don't have to bee here all day. The boutique will go from about 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
I am also looking for donations. This can be anything from hand made items or crafts to baked goods or any thing you would generally find at a boutique. All the proceeds will go to the family, and any left over items will either be returned to the person who made them, or just donated right to the family and they can use then as Christmas gifts. The person who donated the item can decide.
Anyway, if you are willing to help please e-mail me at craftynaty@gmail.com or call me at 494-9279. Thank you!!!

YARD SALE!!
There is going to be a multi family garage sale this Saturday, the 27th on the corner of 1950 S and 620 W from 8 to 1 ish.
There have been a few people who have commented that they are bringing things to sell...but anyone else is welcome too. Just let me know, so I know to expect you. Everyone will keep the money they make from the sale.
Another option is to donate things you what to get rid of...Mauri is putting the money she makes towards a 3-day walk for the cure, Susan G Koman event that she is participating in. Any donations would be really appreciated so that we might be able to contribute as much money as possible to this great cause. For those of you who don't know, Mauri's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently going through chemo treatment to try and beat it. So this is a very personal thing for her.
let me know if you want to bring things to sell...
or have anything to donate...
OR....if you like garage sales, come on over Saturday and do a little shopping!

Those who can...
And if it motivates you at all...the money that I make is going to go to the Susan G. Koman, Breast Cancer Research Foundation. My mom was diagnosed with, and is currently battling, breast cancer and I would like to be able to donate as much money as I can towards that great foundation...
If you have a few things you want to get rid of and just want to donate to the garage sale too, that would be great.
(If you want to participate though...you are able to keep what you make...I'm not trying to take any one's money °Ãœ°)
I'm not sure what others have gathered...but we've already got about 8 boxes full of things from home decoration items, fabric, toys, baby clothes, scrapbook supplies and 3 or 4 big items.
So lots to look at!

Free Trees
I have three dwarf pine junipers that my sister pulled out of her landscaping last week. They look full grown and are under three feet tall. We were going to plant them in our yard but changed our mind so if anyone wants them let me know! They are the ones that smell like little Christmas trees and are really pretty. They need to be planted as soon as possible since they have been living in my garage for several days. Please call me if you are interested- first come first serve!

Who Loves Chocolate?
My aunt is coming out to Utah, and she does a new home based business with Dove Chocolate. I'm not one for having those parties (no one ever seems to come to them when I throw them, plus I'm horrible at sales). Anyway.... is anyone else interested in having a party for her? Here is the email I received from her....
I am a chocolatier with Dove Chocolate. This is a new home-based business. My website is: www.dovechocolateathomecom/cathy
As it is very new, especially out in the west, I am helping them by tring to train and recruit new chocolatiers. I am coming to Lehi, Utah to have a Dove chocolate tasting party on Thursday, September 25th at 7:30pm. I would love to have another chocolate tasting party lined up for Thursday morning, or afternoon or even Wednesday, September 24th night. Would you be interested in hosting one? Do you know anyone who would like to host one, or even look into the business opportunity?
Cathy
Let me know if you are interested, and I'll forward the info on to my aunt.

Squash recipe
If you are like me, wondering what to do with my squash, than you should check out this recipe. This is a blog that my sis-in-law sent me. This recipe is off her website. I thought I would share my findings! The great thing about this site is she shows how to implement food storage in your everyday living!
http://www.everydayfoodstorage.blogspot.com/
This recipe is called "Twinkie Surprise Cupcakes." Most people think the surprise is the raspberry filling but actually the surprise is pureed summer yellow squash! No one can taste the pureed squash and they are moist, easy, and taste just like a Twinkie! I came up with this recipe when my yellow summer squash plant was producing A LOT of squash and we were tired of eating it as a vegetable side dish. I tried researching recipes to use it in other ways, like you can with zucchini, but I didn't find anything great. After some concoctions in the kitchen, Voila! a great cupcake for both kid and adult alike using yellow summer squash as a surprise.
Twinkie Surprise Cupcakes-makes 36 cupcakes
1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
1 C. Pureed Summer Yellow Squash
1/2 C. Water2 T. Vegetable Oil
3 Large Oakdell Eggs (or 4 T. Honeyville Powdered Eggs + 1/2 C. Water)
3/4 C. Meadow Gold Sour Cream
2 C. Lemon Grove Red Raspberry Jam
1 Container of Vanilla Frosting (optional)
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake trays with cupcake liners.
2. In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, summer yellow squash puree, water, oil, eggs, and sour cream. Beat until smooth, 1-2 minutes.
3. Fill cupcake liners 1/3 of the way. Dot each with raspberry jam, then cover with batter until the cups are 3/4 filled.
4. Bake until the tops of the cupcakes are golden and spring back to the touch, about 20-25 minutes. Turn the cupcakes onto wire rack to cool. Once they are cooled, frost with vanilla frosting, if desired.
Thanks for considering it! It really is amazing!

Some good produce info from Heather
You can go to this website www.westmountainraspberries.com it is in Payson and you pick them yourself but what fun!!!!! It is only $2.29 per lb. YUM YUM I see raspberry lemonade in your future!!! Phone number is 465 4284 and they are open from 7am to dusk.
Last one!! Can you tell it is time for canning!!! Anyway these are Peaches. Ready now are the last of the juicy red haven peaches and in about a week the lemon Elberta will be ready. These are 11lb to 12lb boxes costing only $8.50 if you bring your own box/container. Don't worry if you don't have your own container you only save .50cents having one. These are in Orem and his number is 225-3744
Also, you don't have to buy big amonts!!! The reason for the phone number on all of them except the raspberries is you need to call ahead and tell them what you want and when you will pick them up they are all family farms and great people!!!
Yard Swap
How it works is we would have a time say from 6-8am (or later this is just an example) that we could go around the ward neighborhood and be able to get things that we want for free. You would put a little sign in your yard that said WARD YARD SWAP on it and this way we know which houses are participating. Then from say 8-12 we have signs up around town for a neighborhood yard sale.
I think we should shoot for Aug 30 or Sept 6. I don't think we should wait any longer because the weather is getting colder.

Freezer Meals Help
Do any of you have any really good and easy recipe for freezer meals? I am pretty new to the whole freezer dishes and I am wanting to get some recipes, but would love it if they have been "tried and tested" first. Any recipes or suggestions you have would be great.
Please either comment with them here, or feel free to email them to me at oohscrap@yahoo.com. Thanks so much.

Free Legacy Center Membership
I volunteer at the Legacy Center Daycare once a week, and get a membership in return. It's great! If you work 2 hours/week, you get an individual membership, and if you work 4/week, you get a family membership. In my opinion, it is definitely the way to go.
There are 2 shifts available if anyone is interested. Call right away if you are, b/c it's on a first come, first serve basis.
Tuesdays from 9am-12 (you'd have to get 1 more hour in somehow to get a family membership)
or Wednesdays 8am -12.
They are also looking for trade substitutes. Again, you are required to volunteer 4 hrs/week for a family membership, but you don't have a specific scheduled day. People will call you and ask you to cover for them if they can't make their regular shift.
I've been there for a year and really enjoy it. You can take your younger kids with you for no charge. The lady in charge of hiring is Kris. Her number is 766-0127. If you have any questions, you can call me.

Let's Go to Seven Peaks!
DiRegolo Family
I have had a lot of people ask me what they can do to help the DiRegolo family... This is just one suggestion and of course you can always call Michelle and ask her personally... Anyway, they have a huge yard and have lots of weeding that needs to be done. Michelle loves to work in her yard but little Joe doesn't like to be outside or in the sun so you could either do some weeding for her, or offer to watch the kids inside so she could get some yard work done. We went over Monday for FHE and I stayed in the house with little Joe and Sophie while Dallan helped them get some weeding and yard work done. It was fun for our kids too. Just an idea...
