Doctor

Do any of you have really good family doctor recommendations in the Lehi area?  (Not pediatricians.)  I don't really like ours and would love if I could get someone's recommendation (and could you tell me why you like him/her).  Thanks!

Free Kid's stuff

A few kid's items that need to find a new home:
Little Tikes doll house - 21" tall, 18" deep and 24" long.  Sturdy and in good condition. Sorry, no dolls or furniture to go with it.  My girls have used it for anything from barbie to polly pocket.

Dora big wheel - red, purple, orange.  Works great, but the wheels and the stickers on it look a bit worn.

Disney Princess 16" bike.  Bought at Costco 2 or 3 years ago.  In excellent condition.  I even still have the training wheels for it (although one of the training wheels had a hard time staying tight)

Call me at 801-766-9722 if interested.

Preschool Classes Starting Soon!

Hi Everyone!!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Loni Leetham, I also go by 'Teacher', 'Miss Loni', and/or 'Mrs. Loni' :)  I teach preschool in my home at 628 West 1675 South in a school room made just for little one's to explore, create, and learn!!

My classes start on September 4th and 5th!!! I will begin preschool orientations within the upcoming weeks. If you would like to come and check out my school to see what it looks like and to visit one on one, give me a call or text to set up a time that would work best for you and your family.

In addition to teaching Kindergarten-prep classes for 4/5 year olds, I also teach a 3 year old class in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you're not sure of the benefits a 3 year old might receive from a preschool, here are a few of the proven benefits for children this age:

  • "I believe that all three- or four-year-olds should have the opportunity and advantages of attending preschool," says Anna Jane Hays, a child development expert in Santa Fe and author of several books, including Ready, Set, Preschool! and Kindergarten Countdown. "It's just too valuable of a beginning, now that we know children are capable of learning at such an early age. The consensus is 'the sooner, the better' in regard to a structured opportunity for learning."
You are able to find this and more insightful information through the following URL:
http://www.webmd.com/parenting/features/my-child-ready-preschool

Here is the URL to my preschool blog:

Need Babysitting Help for Temple Prep Class

Ray and I were just called to teach the temple prep class. We will be holding the class on Sunday nights at 7:00 starting this coming Sunday. The class will go for about 6 or 7 weeks. I was wondering if there were some people who would be willing to take turns watching kids for about an hour each week while we hold the class. There will be my 2 boys and Loni Leetham's 3 kids. I believe the ages of Loni's kids are about 6, 4, and 1. I wouldn't expect anyone to watch all of them at the same time. :) Here are few options I thought we could try: - Have one or two of the young women take turns coming to the church each week and watch them in the nursery. Might be good to have one adult there. - Have 2 young women take turns each week coming to each of our homes to watch them. I think this would be ideal so that the kids wouldn't be a distraction at the church and they tend to do better at home. - Loni and I could bring our kids to 2 different homes each week if anyone would be willing to to that. We might have to do a different option each week depending on who is available and what works best for that week. I just wanted to get an idea of who can do what so if you are able to help (or have a daughter who can help), please leave a comment and let me know what you are able to do. If you could also note if there's a specific Sunday during the next 6 weeks that would work for you, that would be great too. I thought this would be a great service project for the young women. Please let me know ASAP since the class is starting this Sunday! Call or text at 801-318-3363 or e-mail at megjohnson_6@hotmail.com if you don't leave a comment.

Free toys

I have a few toys that need to find a new home:
A Dora pop-up play tent.  Easy to set up and take down.  In excellent condition.
A Dora big wheel - red, orange, purple.  The stickers on it are worn, but otherwise it is in good condition.
A little wagon a toddler could pull or sit on. (not for an adult to pull a child)
A rocking horse.  Rockers are wooden.  Horse is soft.  Has a cute little saddle to sit on.  Makes "neighing"sound.
A cute little cleaning cart (for playing house).  Comes with a little vacuum that does make sounds, a little broom, mop, bucket, etc.
If anyone is interested, call Kristin 801-766-9722.
I'll keep them around for another week or two - until my next DI trip.

Update:  Just have the big wheel left!

Ladies of Northlake!

So, with the new ward split, I have made a command decision to change the name of this blog to "Ladies of North Lake" instead of the North Lake 2nd ward.  This is because, first... the admins of the page are both now in the 4th ward, and I want it to really be a place for everyone in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th wards to feel like they can post.  If you don't have access to post, contact either myself (Sarah Kimmel) or Mauri Brewer to request access!  The URL (the address of the website) will not be changing.

High Flyers Preschool ~ Now OPEN!!

Hi Everyone :)

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Loni Leetham or "Mrs. Loni". My family has lived in this area for almost 7 years now. I have been teaching preschool in Mapleton, UT (south of Provo) for almost 4 years and am now able to teach from my own home!

I grew up in Sandy, UT where I lived in the same house until I moved out to attend UVU (UVSC at the time). My mom, Jackie Colton, owner/operator of The Raspberry Sawhorse Preschool, has taught preschool since before I was born. I grew up with little children all around me, with their amazing capacity for learning, forgiveness, love, joy, and above all, curiousity. This amazing opportunity has offered me a clear picture into the full and successful functionality of a preschool.

I am excited to offer my knowledge, creativity, and experience to assist in the emotional and academic growth of your child.  My preschool offers an interactive, creative, thought-provoking, and yes, sometimes silly, learning environment. I would love to meet with you and show you my cute new preschool and tell you all about my plans for inspiring growth in your child. Here is my information:

Job for Stay-at-Home Moms

*** Thanks for the response ladies! We have all the help we need.***
My company is looking to hire a few artists to help us keep up with demand. You can see more of what we do at www.CustomFamilyTreeArt.com. Right now it's just me and my partner (Noelle Newbold from the old ward), and we went crazy last December trying to finish all our orders. We are looking to start training now so that everyone will be ready when the rush starts in the fall. We might need help before then, too. Mother's Day was pretty crazy this month. Parenting.com and CBS local just did stories on us. Anyway, we create the trees on the computer, but you don't need to have a bunch of computer skills. Having an artistic eye, and being detail oriented are more important. We can teach you the rest. Pay depends on your speed since it is on a per job basis, not hourly. It's the perfect job for a stay-at-home mom. I work whenever I have a few minutes, with the kids right next to me, or after they all go to bed. It's very flexible, and you never have to keep the kids quiet while you take a phone call. We do everything online. Email me at Karen@CustomFamilyTreeArt.com if you're interested in learning more.

Lehi Round Up Float

Hey Ladies,
I'm in charge of the Lehi Round-Up float for our ward this year! {yikes!}

I've never been to the mini float parade...does anyone have pictures from past year floats (from any ward) I just need some idea of the typical float seen at these parades! Or if no pictures maybe some descriptions of things you've seen? Do they typically keep it pretty simple or do you see a few awesome ones, too?

Any info/help you can send my way would be appreciated!
This year's theme is "75 years of Kids, Cowboys and fun"

Support the Killpack Family

Hi Ladies,

Bishop Killpack of the North Lake 1st ward is expecting a baby girl.  He and his wife found out she has spina bifida. They are looking at up to $40,000 in medical bills for a much needed surgery.  If you have an ability to donate a website has been set up to help.  Here is a link:

https://www.everribbon.com/ribbon/view/6020

I don't know the Killpack family very well, but I did work with Matt once through his job for the Alpine School District. He is a kind and compassionate person who daily advocates for special needs children. They are an incredible family who could use the support of not just their own ward, but ours as well.

Thanks!

Natalie

From President Randy Lefler

From President Randy Lefler:

I would like to press this week and ask all our indexers/arbitrators to focus our efforts, and see if we can get to One Million by next Sunday?  Easter Sunday would be a memorable Day for all of us to celebrate such a wonderful achievement as a stake family.  Will you send this plea out to all those who are signed up to index/arbitrate??  I know at the first of the year we were doing 120,000 to 130,000 per week, and now we have even more indexers/arbitrators, I know we can do it!!!  Let’s send out the call to finish this goal by Easter Sunday. 158,000 names indexed and/or arbitrated by next Sunday.  It will take all of our best efforts to accomplish it.  We can do it.  Please help spread the word as fast as possible to your organizations, families and fellow indexers by all the means we have at our disposal, emails, call trees, word of mouth, facebook, twitter, and then lets all get indexing/arbitrating.  One Million by Easter Sunday, a great way to celebrate such a Holy Day!
Warmest regards,
Pres. Lefler

Big Plant needs a new home

I have a BIG plant in my kitchen and it needs a new home. My baby keeps trying to dump it on herself, plus I am just sick of it. :) I don't know what kind it is, but it's very pretty and green (and still alive--miracle), and gets long stalks with a flowery type of thing on the end. It's yours if you'd like it! It has a stand to sit on if you want that as well.
Thanks!

Help with items for 80's Pary Decor for March 24th Mid-singles (31-45) Stake Activity

Hello all:

I am helping with an 80's party for the Mid-singles in the Stake on March 24th (a Saturday). We are in need of 80's stuff mainly for decorating walls (posters of bands/celebrities etc) and objects to set in the middle of the tables for decor to make it fun. If you have anything that we could use, it would help a lot and be appreciated. Here are some ideas to jog your memory:

Toys: Cabbage patch dolls, strawberry shortcake, My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, Star Wars, Gi-Joe, Transformers etc., He-man, She-Ra
TV Shows/Movies for posters etc: Ferris Buler, Michael Fox, ET, Karate Kid, Back to the Future, Goonies
Other objects: Records, tape players, walkmen, crazy sunglasses or bracelets etc

Thanks

Building our Food Storage

I'm throwing a Shelf Reliance party! Thursday March 8 @ 7pm.

I love working on food storage, but it's so hard! I have my grain, my flour. I have fruit and soup cans, but I have to rotate it every couple years. It's becoming quite a hassle! And what a waste to store all that food and have to throw it out because it has spoiled! I'm really lacking GOOD food!

I went to this awesome Shelf Reliance party, and learned all about their food. I was way impressed! They have the things that I didn't know how to store, and it lasts for 25 years! And it tastes GOOD! Some of my favorites...fruits, yogurt bites, ground beef, chicken pieces, grated cheese, ice cream!

They even have a program called the Q. You pick out all the food you would ideally want in your food storage (customize it for you!), and you tell it how much you want to spend a month! They then automatically send you that amount of food per month...easy! Or if you want to be more involved, you edit your Q every month and you can buy just the items that are on sale, or things
you really want now!

I was so impressed, I'm throwing a party! I'm so very excited about having food storage that lasts 25 years. I can throw it in my storage, and not worry about it! Delicious food, even!

Please come, try out some samples so you can see how yummy it is, too! You also get party pricing that's better than the retail prices. If you can't come, I can give you an order form so you can still get the party prices (or you can call).

Thursday, March 8
654 W 1675 S, Lehi
7pm
Feel free to bring your spouse, they'll have to eat it, too!

Please RSVP so we have enough samples.

Relief Society Podcast

Hi Ladies!

Just wanted to share something fun. I love listening to the Mormon Channel Relief Society podcast, and discovered President Norby (was in our ward before we split) was interviewed last November about the Relief Society Daughters in My Kingdom Book. He did a great job, and it's an especially uplifting podcast to listen to.

Here is a link for listening online:

http://mormonchannel.org/relief-society/daughters-in-my-kingdom/3

You just click play on the little gray play button show below.

If you have an iPod previous podcasts can be downloaded right to your iPod or iPhone through iTunes.

The Mormon Channel puts out Relief Society podcasts about three times a month. They usually cover the visiting teaching message too, so it's a great way to listen to your message before you teach it if you don't have time to sit down and read it.

Anyway, just wanted to share!

Babysitting and Cleaning to fund EFY

My daughter MaKaela wants to go to the special edition session of EFY in Salt Lake this summer and is looking for a way to make some money. It costs $555, which is why she is looking to generate some income. She is a CPR certified babysitter and is building her skills in cooking and cleaning. If you can, and would like to, help fund her trip, please do. Her cell phone number is (801)602-3024 if you want to contact her about babysitting or cleaning. She also has websites for you to visit. One for her babysitting and another for her cleaning. She is still not totally sure what to charge for the house cleaning, but if you have any suggestions they would be much appreciated. For right now, she is just going to charge a little more than I pay for the jobs, since I pay 'Mom rates'. :) Hopefully she will have the pricing on her website soon.
Again, she is trying to earn money for EFY, and really does care about the quality of work she does. She would be happy to do babysitting, house cleaning, cooking, as well as any other jobs you would like her to do. You can email her at fredette.about.it@gmail.com or you can call or text her anytime. She can't live without her phone, so she is usually pretty quick to respond. Thanks so much!

Start out the New Year right

Hey Ladies, my mom is coming over to my house to tomorrow to talk about a nutritional system that she uses. It is great for weight loss, balancing out your nutritional needs, more energy (why I take it), and health issues such as arthritis or other joint issues (my mom has bursitis and no longer feels creaky). Anyways, it is going to be at 7pm at my house 1809 south 550 West. Let me know if you have any questions and if you can't make it but are still interested I can give you her info. It really is a great product line and there is something for everyone.
