The achievement day girls are having a car wash this Thursday, September 4th from 4-5 pm (I made a mistake on the flyer, it is the 4th) to raise money for a charity (to be determined)... but it would be great if you could come and support them by getting your car washed and offering a small donation.
THANK YOU
It will be at Mauri Brewer's house

Squash recipe
Hi Everyone,
If you are like me, wondering what to do with my squash, than you should check out this recipe. This is a blog that my sis-in-law sent me. This recipe is off her website. I thought I would share my findings! The great thing about this site is she shows how to implement food storage in your everyday living!
http://www.everydayfoodstorage.blogspot.com/
This recipe is called "Twinkie Surprise Cupcakes." Most people think the surprise is the raspberry filling but actually the surprise is pureed summer yellow squash! No one can taste the pureed squash and they are moist, easy, and taste just like a Twinkie! I came up with this recipe when my yellow summer squash plant was producing A LOT of squash and we were tired of eating it as a vegetable side dish. I tried researching recipes to use it in other ways, like you can with zucchini, but I didn't find anything great. After some concoctions in the kitchen, Voila! a great cupcake for both kid and adult alike using yellow summer squash as a surprise.
Twinkie Surprise Cupcakes-makes 36 cupcakes
1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
1 C. Pureed Summer Yellow Squash
1/2 C. Water2 T. Vegetable Oil
3 Large Oakdell Eggs (or 4 T. Honeyville Powdered Eggs + 1/2 C. Water)
3/4 C. Meadow Gold Sour Cream
2 C. Lemon Grove Red Raspberry Jam
1 Container of Vanilla Frosting (optional)
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake trays with cupcake liners.
2. In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, summer yellow squash puree, water, oil, eggs, and sour cream. Beat until smooth, 1-2 minutes.
3. Fill cupcake liners 1/3 of the way. Dot each with raspberry jam, then cover with batter until the cups are 3/4 filled.
4. Bake until the tops of the cupcakes are golden and spring back to the touch, about 20-25 minutes. Turn the cupcakes onto wire rack to cool. Once they are cooled, frost with vanilla frosting, if desired.
Thanks for considering it! It really is amazing!

Some good produce info from Heather
I found a place in P.G. where they have tomatoes for 50cents a pound. the number to call is 921-0787 He also has pickling cucumbers. Something I just learned about making your pickles crispy is you have to put Alum/Allum in them. I don't know the right spelling but I was told you could get it at the grocery stores.
You can go to this website www.westmountainraspberries.com it is in Payson and you pick them yourself but what fun!!!!! It is only $2.29 per lb. YUM YUM I see raspberry lemonade in your future!!! Phone number is 465 4284 and they are open from 7am to dusk.
Last one!! Can you tell it is time for canning!!! Anyway these are Peaches. Ready now are the last of the juicy red haven peaches and in about a week the lemon Elberta will be ready. These are 11lb to 12lb boxes costing only $8.50 if you bring your own box/container. Don't worry if you don't have your own container you only save .50cents having one. These are in Orem and his number is 225-3744
Also, you don't have to buy big amonts!!! The reason for the phone number on all of them except the raspberries is you need to call ahead and tell them what you want and when you will pick them up they are all family farms and great people!!!

Yard Swap
It is the end of summer and the things we haven't used should go, right! Well I thought it would be fun on a Sat to set up a YARD SWAP! Then after the YARD SWAP we would just continue on to have a yard sale if you want.
How it works is we would have a time say from 6-8am (or later this is just an example) that we could go around the ward neighborhood and be able to get things that we want for free. You would put a little sign in your yard that said WARD YARD SWAP on it and this way we know which houses are participating. Then from say 8-12 we have signs up around town for a neighborhood yard sale.
I think we should shoot for Aug 30 or Sept 6. I don't think we should wait any longer because the weather is getting colder.
They can contact me Heather Chandler @ 885-7431.
or email me chandlergirls2@yahoo.com

Jane Austin Book Club
I wanted to get a few girls together to do a Jane Austin Book Club. There are 7 books including Lady Susan and I thought we could get 7 girls and each one choose a book and they would host the review at there house for that book. Maybe supply a fun dessert. It would only last 7 months for the 7 books and we would just pick a day of the month that worked best for everyone.

Girls Day On Me
Or on them, but whatever. I am reposting this here, because I haven't really posted on my personal blog in a while, and I'm sure most people aren't checking there... Anyway, my company (Daily Home Planner) was going to have a booth at the Utah Valley Women's Expo at UVU. We decided to back out to concentrate on getting out web version released, but they sent us 25 tickets anyway! So I have 20 tickets available to give away. First come first serve. My sister and I are going to go with her Japanese student. Just email me/comment here/call me if you want some tickets. They'll be available 'till they are gone!

Freezer Meals Help
Hey ladies,
Do any of you have any really good and easy recipe for freezer meals? I am pretty new to the whole freezer dishes and I am wanting to get some recipes, but would love it if they have been "tried and tested" first. Any recipes or suggestions you have would be great.
Please either comment with them here, or feel free to email them to me at oohscrap@yahoo.com. Thanks so much.

Free Legacy Center Membership
Hi all,
I volunteer at the Legacy Center Daycare once a week, and get a membership in return. It's great! If you work 2 hours/week, you get an individual membership, and if you work 4/week, you get a family membership. In my opinion, it is definitely the way to go.
There are 2 shifts available if anyone is interested. Call right away if you are, b/c it's on a first come, first serve basis.
Tuesdays from 9am-12 (you'd have to get 1 more hour in somehow to get a family membership)
or Wednesdays 8am -12.
They are also looking for trade substitutes. Again, you are required to volunteer 4 hrs/week for a family membership, but you don't have a specific scheduled day. People will call you and ask you to cover for them if they can't make their regular shift.
I've been there for a year and really enjoy it. You can take your younger kids with you for no charge. The lady in charge of hiring is Kris. Her number is 766-0127. If you have any questions, you can call me.

DiRegolo Family
Hi Ladies,
I have had a lot of people ask me what they can do to help the DiRegolo family... This is just one suggestion and of course you can always call Michelle and ask her personally... Anyway, they have a huge yard and have lots of weeding that needs to be done. Michelle loves to work in her yard but little Joe doesn't like to be outside or in the sun so you could either do some weeding for her, or offer to watch the kids inside so she could get some yard work done. We went over Monday for FHE and I stayed in the house with little Joe and Sophie while Dallan helped them get some weeding and yard work done. It was fun for our kids too. Just an idea...
