Babysitting and Cleaning to fund EFY

My daughter MaKaela wants to go to the special edition session of EFY in Salt Lake this summer and is looking for a way to make some money. It costs $555, which is why she is looking to generate some income. She is a CPR certified babysitter and is building her skills in cooking and cleaning. It is great for weight loss, balancing out your nutritional needs, more energy (why I take it), and health issues such as arthritis or other joint issues (my mom has bursitis and no longer feels creaky). Ladies....

There will be a FUN activity next Wednesday, December 7th at 7: pm at the church building. We will be making cards, because there are some times when you just feel like you should drop someone a little note. Not often enough do we tell someone thank you for their effort, or let a friend know that we are thinking about them. So come and collect a few cards to have on hand for when such a time arises.

All the supplies will be provided, but it might be helpful if you bring scissors and adhesives.

I hvae a 7.5 foot Noble Fir artificial tree up for grabs. It is an older one that you have to put each branch in individually...I am not going to lie it is a beast to set up, but once it's up it looks great!! There are a couple branches missing, but we have always put them in the back and you can't tell.

We have a old & used white dresser that is up for grabs. (It was originally used by my sister in law, then her daughter, then another niece, and most recently, Kayla.) It's in fair condition, and as you can see from the photo, there is a piece that has broken off of the top drawer. We have that piece, so it may be able to be glued on. Mirror is included. You will need to arrange pickup from our house, as we do not have a truck to transport it. Contact Michele Hansen if you want it.

Help the Single Moms

Through my blog, I was invited down to BYU yesterday to discuss a social media push that LDS Philanthropies is doing for the month of November. LDS Business College has a scholarship program for single mothers to help them go back to school, and not have to worry about books and tuition while they try and support their family and further their education to BETTER support their family.

The scholarship program is currently out of money, so they called in some bloggers to help them get the word out about their November initiative. Their goal is to raise $7,200 which will send ONE single mother all the way through school. As bloggers we told them they set their sights way too low, and OUR goal is to send 45! My sister and I have already donated, and we encourage everyone else to do the same. Even if all you can manage is $5.00. If everyone donated $5.00 we would definitely meet and perhaps even exceed our goal.

Hi Ladies!

I have been overseeing a local book club over the last few years for local gals and just wanted to send out a invitation to anyone who would like to join. It use to be a traditional book club, but now it's more of an education club. We will be meeting monthly at different group members homes, and whomever is hosting is in charge of teaching a skill. Some examples are:

Computer Skills
Home repair
Personal Fitness
Decorating
Gardening, landscape, or floral design
Or the hostess can pick a book to discuss

We have a great group of over a dozen local ladies and would love to have more attend if you are interested. This group is open to any woman regardless of age or church ward. If you are interested in joining please let me know, we would love to have you.

American Fork Symphony FHE idea

You and your family are invited to a night out at the symphony! It is a perfect night for children as we will be playing Peter and the Wolf, a Symphonic Tale for children. I play the violin with the American Fork Symphony, which is an 80 member volunteer community orchestra, and wanted to get the word out for this great opportunity (though a little late this time. )

We have a concert on Monday Oct 17th at 7:30 p.m. at the American Fork Junior High Auditorium 1120 North 20 West in American Fork. We are the first concert in this NEW auditorium with AMAZING ACOUSTICS. $5/person or $15/family.

Bro. Wadley has picked three bushels of peaches. The peaches will be available tonight (Wednesday) in the North Foyer of the Stake Center from 6:45 until they are gone (not later than 9 pm). There will be about 15 or so peaches in each box available for whoever wants them.

Couch for Sale

I am selling this LARGE couch and thought I'd let you all know first.

90 inches long
33.5 inches tall
42 inches deep

It's very comfortable and in good shape and CLEAN.

The only major flaw is this part sticking out on the back corner. It's in the back, so easy to hide, but it will scratch your wall if not careful. You could probably pound it back into place with a hammer?

Clothes rod is one we added, so it could easily be removed. top drawer is missing, but I was thinking of making a shelf in that spot?

The stake has asked Ashley Lisonbee to teach a fitness class on Mondays at 9:30am at the Stake Center. It will be 30 minutes of ballet aerobic conditioning and 30 minutes of Yoga. This workout is designed for all ages, no dance experience required. Just a good, fun workout dance like conditioning.

I can email you the order forms & price lists if you would like to see them before the party, or if you can't come and want to email me your order. If you can't come, but would still like to order something, you can still order by emailing me back before Sunday night (the 11th). Just tell me what you want and I will put the order through my party coordinator--that way you will still get the cheaper prices. Once you order through a party you will always be able to get the cheaper prices when you order more things online in the future!

Please let me know Wednesday (tomorrow, or Thursday at the latest) if you will be coming and if you are bringing a friend! We will need a headcount for food. Everyone is invited! Feel free to email or call me with questions!

My daughter wants to participate in the Up With Kids musical theatre academy this year. They will be preforming Rapunzel this year, anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else is interested because I would love to carpool. The class is for preschool through 1st graders, its 35 bucks a month, and the time is Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30 at the Avondale Academy which is somewhere out by Saratoga. Hey Ladies! I just upgraded to a newer sewing machine and I'd like to make some room in my closet for it. I have a sewing machine I would like to sell and thought I'd give any of you first crack at it. It still works.

It is an older machine I got last year. It's a Singer Stylist 774. I looked up info. for it online because it didn't come with a manual or a case. It says that model was manufactured in 1975. It has worked fine for me. I printed the online manual so that I would know how to thread it and I'll have that to give to you. It has straight and zig zag and the size and length of the stitches can vary. Great for someone just learning to sew who doesn't need all the bells and whistles.
I'm selling it for $15.00.

Hello all! I wanted to thank everyone so much for all they did in prayers and fasting for Eli. He is doing very well. We will be at church on Sunday because he is healthy and feeling fine. We feel so blessed to live here and have such a great ward and friends.

On that note, I was wondering if anyone had an exersaucer that they aren't using at this time. I don't have one and Eli could use one to borrow. He is quite the mover, I think he would like to be able to turn around and walk or whatever. I have a jumper, but he gets bored of that real fast...

Also if anyone is interested I am going to begin to teach Yoga Thursday mornings over at the open park in Loch Lamond Lehi (On the cement round by the water, in the middle of the walking track). It will be a Kundalini Flow class designed for runners and athletes. The classes are Free. They begin at 6:15a.m. and go to 7:15a.m. I will show up and if I need to cancel I will try to post or won't be there:) Please bring a mat, water and wear comfortable clothing. All are welcome, and no you don't have to be flexible to do Yoga. See you there!

*Education week will be held at BYU August 15-19. They are looking for hosting volunteers to greet students, check tickets, take attendance counts, and help with other program details. Shifts are generally 4 hours per day, between the hours of 8 am - 9:30 pm. Hosting volunteers will recieve a full-event pass in exchange for their four shifts of service. To sign up, call 801.422.6214 or go to educationweek.byu.edu and click on "volunteer to host."

Talent Display

At our ward variety show on June 4^th we are giving you and your families the opportunity to display your non-performing talents. Some examples of this are: woodwork, artwork, photography, sewing projects, and crafts. We will be sending sign up sheets around on Sunday or you can email me what you're planning on displaying so we have an idea of how much room to set aside for the talent display. If you need something other than a table to display your talent on then be sure to bring it that night. Please bring your talent to the stake center between 5:00 and 5:45 that evening.

To showcase other talents (those of the food preparation kind) there will also be the opportunity for those who want to prepare a dessert item for the ward variety show.

We will be passing around sign up sheets at church for those interested, so be on the look out for those.

Ward Variety Show

The ward is having a variety show on the 4th of June at 6 p.m. at the stake center.

The Primary is going to have a little girl dance routine for one of their acts. If you have a daughter age 4-7 and would like her to participate in this dance practices are at Ashley Lisonbee's Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 (beginning this Tuesday). Ashley scheduled them for both days in case some of the girls can't make it on one of those days.

Your daughter doesn't need to have any dance experience to participate. If you have any questions contact Ashley.

Feeding Missionaries

In need of babysitting

Frank is leaving for his annual Army training this week and I'm looking for some help with babysitting so I can go to work and get my hours in. I would like someone to pick up Toby from the bus stop (my house) around 12:20 and watch him until I get back around 3:30. It's easier that way because D will still be in school. It would just be Wed., Thurs. and maybe Fri. of next week. I'd rather do trade babysitting, but I'm also willing to pay. Even if someone is willing to just do one day, it's better than nothing. Free Utah Symphony Ticket

I have a single ticket for the Utah Symphony this Friday night. There are always open seats so if you can convince your husband to go along, it would be easy to pick up one more ticket. This concert is an Organ Symphony and I read that the Tabernacle Choir's organist was the guest soloist. It should be amazing. I've gone to concerts in the past and really enjoyed them. I just can't go tomorrow night. Are you interested?
I also am looking to hire a babysitter for Lindy and Amery tomorrow from 12:30 to 3:30. This is a hard time in case your kids take naps, which is why I'm paying. Please let me know.

Anyone do Zumba and interested in a free month pass in Orem? My Brother in laws company is offering the passes at a great deal, and with his employee discount he can get you one for free. All he asks in return is you sign up as a follower of their company (they are just starting to do deals in Utah county so they are trying to spread the word). The company is dealsthatmatter.com they have a daily/weekly deal they do at a discount the cool thing is they donate a portion of their proceeds to various local and national charities.
