Valentine's Day Party

Lucy, Edson and I decided it would be fun to have a Valentine's Day party and we want to invite all of you. Everyone is welcome, you don't have to have kids! We'll be making valentines, we'll probably have a "cake" walk and some other little activities along with treats (of course!). It will be lots and lots of fun.

Bring anyone you want (neighbors, friends, family, etc.) but let me know who's coming just so I know what to plan for (the more, the merrier!).

I hope you can all make it!

Service Auction Reminder...

Remember our awesome service auction/breakfast we had in November?
Do you vaguely remember that you auctioned a service and don't have a clue who "bought" it?
Ya, that was me...until that person reminded me that I owed her dinner. DUH!
Was I offended or put off that she reminded me? Of course NOT! I had completely forgotten (I'd like to blame it on my pregnant brain, but let's be honest - prego or not, I would have forgotten. That's just life!). Was I extremely grateful that she reminded me so that I could provide that service for her? Definitely!
My point?
The activity was great, we had a lot of fun and if you "bought" something and haven't received that service yet, please kindly remind that person. As a committee maybe we should have done a better job at keeping track of who "purchased" what...but we didn't. Sorry. So now it is up to you!
If you do owe someone and you do remember (props to you for being able to remember 2+ months back) but more importantly - please get in touch with that person and do some service! If you bid on an item, won it, and have yet to receive it, chances are that person (like me) has completely forgotten and would be grateful for you to remind them!

Embroidery Services Wanted

Do any of you ladies have, or know someone who has, an embroidery machine? I make quilts for my kids when they get big beds and I like to have some of the pieces have embroidered pictures of their choice, along with their name and birthday. Can someone help me get this done? I can trade services with any of my small businesses. (Choose from products/services on www.SmallBizMarketingHelp.biz or www.CustomFamilyTreeArt.com or www.ScrollSawPictures.com) Thanks in advance!

One more thing

Thanks to all those that were able to come to the Cannery activity last night. As we were leaving the sister who was helping us told me one more thing that she forgot to mention to us. At the cannery they use the Blendtec home Kitchen Mill to grind wheat. You can order them at http://www.blendtec.com/millpromo.aspx or you can call (800) 253-6383. Make sure to mention code #KZ12182 and they will give you $40.00 off. It is regularly $199.95 and it makes it $159.95. Good deal! So if you need a wheat grinder, here is a deal for you.

Cannery Activity

Just a reminder that there is the Cannery Activity for R.S. Meet at Jana Hoyal's house, 1722 South 500 West, at 5:00pm. We will be leaving at 5:10, so be on time if you want to carpool. We are going to arrive at the Cannery at 5:30 if you want to meet us there. Come prepared to take a tour of the cannery, can some items and purchase items that are available. See you tonight!

Legacy Center Exercise

I have a pass to the Legacy Center and want to start going early in the morning to exercise. They have some fun classes early like Zumba, cycle, pump, muscle (don't know what this is but I need them). They also have the swimming pool open for members and the weights and running machines. I'm hoping someone would like to carpool with me to help provide that extra encouragement for me to get out and move. I'd like to be there an hour either 5-6 a.m. or 6-7 a.m. If you'd like to start going with me, please call 801.341.5106 Yeah! Exercise!

New Baby!

April Knight had her baby boy on Jan. 20th. Both mom and baby are doing well!

CARD GROUP DETAILS

For all of those who want to participate in the card group, here are the finalized details: We will get together at my house on Tuesday, February 9th @ 7:00. There are 9 of us in the group and I would suggest to make an even 10 cards to bring and share. We are doing Valentine cards and everyone needs to bring their favorite craft tool to tell us about. Please bring a treat or appetizer to share (and keep it simple). For those of you who haven't heard about this yet either on this blog or on facebook, if you desperately want to join the group this time, let me know ASAP!! Can't wait! For clarification, the people wanting to participate are: Jana, Natalie W., Katie D., Katie B., Mauri, Cara, Chelsea W., me, and I have a friend not in our ward who wants to come. Thanks!

Lost Dog

My neighbors just down the street on Northlake found a lost dog so I'm just throwing out the info in case someone lost their best friend. I think they said it was a Jack Russell dog (but I may be wrong and have the details mixed up--does anyone else suffer from memory loss?). :) Needness to say, there is a lost dog in the neighborhood. My neighbors put some signs up on Northlake as well. Let me know and I will help you get in touch with them. They live on the corner of Northlake and 575 W. Thanks!

At Mauri's house.
@ 8 or 8:30 (I'm not sure what time we will be at the cannery until)

...you are all invited!

The Juber’s gave me this swing for free, and we don’t use it anymore, so I’d like to pay it forward and give it to someone else in the ward for free (baby not included…although I may be willing to throw in a 4 year old. :) . Please contact me if you can put it to good use. Thanks!

A SISTER NEEDS OUR HELP!!

I found out tonight that a sister who lives in our ward, but is not a member desperately needs our help! The sister's name is Teresa Braumagem and she broke her back in a sledding accident this past weekend. She actually broke three of her vertebrae and will be wearing a back brace for the next 12 weeks. She is VERY limited in what she can do and is in a great deal of pain. She has a teenage daughter and a 7 year old son and her husband is supposed to be going out of town for work on Thrusday for 10 days (can you imagine?!?!). She is the sweetest lady and as we have visited with her before, she has asked if she can be of service to any of the sisters in our ward. It was difficult for her to aske for help, but it is obvious that there are some needs here. Please, PLEASE respond to this post or contact Shaunell if you can help out with meals, cleaning, or letting her 7 year old play with your kids. Her neighbors are providing meals this week until Friday. Although the circumstances are pretty crummy we can try to make something of it through reaching out to this sister in love and friendship. Please let me know what you can do. THANKS!!!

Baby Food Jar Lids

Hey ladies,

I'm looking to collect as many baby food jar lids as I can! Whether you have them already or could start collecting them for me, I would love to have them! I need them for a craft project and my son doesn't eat baby food anymore. I collected a bunch when he did eat it, but I need more. So if you can help me out I'd appreciate it!

April Stevens is looking for babysitting

Hi Sisters,

I wanted to contact everyone on behalf of April Stevens, a sister in our ward who is looking for some help watching her 5 year old daughter McKayla. She needs someone Monday through Thursday from 7:30-8:45 in the morning, and again from 12:30 (12:00 on Mondays for early-out day) to about 2:30, or 2:45. April lives on Lakeview Drive.
April is not familiar with many sisters in the neighborhood, so we wanted to help her out and let as many people know as possible. If you can help out (you can discuss with her the length, compensation, and committment involved), give her a call at 801-369-6354, or email me (renaes31@yahoo.com) or Marisa Seitzinger, 616-3778, if you have any questions.
Thank you!

RS Activity - TONIGHT!

Where: Family History Computer Lab
(south side of stake center, NW corner of 500 W. and 700 S.)

When: 7 pm

Who: YOU!

What: Here's your chance to finally get on & explore the new family search website! There will be people there to help you, whether you've never even been on the site before (like me!) or have some questions you want answered.

Noelle Newbold and Karen Eggett will also be teaching us how to make your own family history tree.
If you have a laptop with a wi-fi card, please bring it. That will allow us to have more people on the website at once.

Also, if your laptop has a photoshop program, bring it, since the family tree is made using photoshop.

Hope to see you all there!

*Don't worry about searching for your confirmation date & membership record number. You will need it, but we will have a list with everyone's at the lab. See, we are making this soooo easy for you!!!

CARD GROUP

One of my New Year's resolutions is to actually start enjoying my hobbies again--referring specifically to scrapbooking and card making. Accountability is a great motivator for me so I thought if I got involved in a card group, that would a great incentive to sit down and actually make some cards once in a while! I know there are many of you card makers out there so I was wondering if you guys would like to get a group going. I was thinking that we could meet every other month and do the traditional "make as many cards as there are people in the group and bring them to swap." I've never really done this before so if anyone has good ideas as to how to make it work better or be a little more fun and creative with it, that would be great. Some ideas I had are that we could bring and chat about our favorite crafting tools, share tips on how to organize your craft space, and of course do treats and all the works, etc. We could meet the first part of February to get things started and do Valentines cards. Please let me know ASAP so we can get things planned and people let know how many cards to make. I hope people will be interested!!

Babies babies!

Congratulations to:
Amie Thomas and her new baby boy!
Angie Maynes and her new baby girl (Kinley)!
Both moms and babies are doing well!

Dolly Crosby

Hi Sisters,
Here's the email I sent out today to those of you whose email addresses I have:

I wanted to let everyone know what's been going on with our sister Dolly Crosby. Her daughter, Cat Tanner, said she is doing better, and is not needing 24 hr care, like the doctors were anticipating when she was in the hospital. Cat and her brother are trading off staying nights with her. Cat said the best things we can do for Dolly is to come and visit with her! She isn't able to get out much, and this really brightens her day to have visitors.
I would also like to set up 2 meals a week for Cat's family and Dolly, to help out a little for this month at least.
If you'd like to visit with Dolly, please give Cat a call, and she'll make sure someone's there to let you in, and let Dolly know to expect company. Cat's number is 768-7369. Cat also suggested having the Achievement (activity?) days girls stop by, or the Young Women, etc. as well. This would be a great opportunity to serve and get to know our sweet Dolly.
If you'd like to help with meals, we decided on Tues. and Thurs. nights at or around 5:30. Neither the Tanner's or Dolly have any special dietary restrictions or needs. This week has already been taken care of by you wonderful sisters, so let me know if you'd like to help out with the following nights:
Tues. Jan 12th

Thurs. Jan 14th

Tues. Jan 19th

Thurs. Jan 21st

Tues. Jan 26th

Thurs. Jan 28th
Also, please let me know if you'd prefer doing the meal with another sister, or by yourself. I usually plan 2 sisters per meal, but I know some prefer to do it alone. Either is fine. The Tanners have 2 boys, so plan for 5 people all together. I appreciate all you wonderful ladies! Please feel free to call me with any questions, or email me. I'll send periodic emails out if I need more help, and I'll try to keep it updated on the blog.
Thanks!!!
